Sarah Draht takes great pride in the experience behind her instruction in self-defence. Everything she teaches has been tried and tested in real life situations in the street, and in professional situations on the mats. She has worked as a female security guard at Roses Waterfront Pub downtown, and has competed and won at the largest tournaments in the world for Jiu-Jitsu. She is incredibly excited to share her knowledge and empower women with a new set of skills and self-confidence. No experience required!
Testimony from one of our graduates:
‘This course was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It truly did ‘empower’ me but not in the ways I expected. It has given me a ‘type’ of confidence that I didn’t even know I was lacking.
Signing up for a group class was intimidating but I’m so glad I did. The class I was in consisted of women from just about every age category and I felt like I fit in right away. Sarah, the coach, (along with her assisting coaches) were relaxed, funny, kind, and extremely knowledgeable.
Everyone in the class just loved them. Sarah’s stories were incredible and her laughter is contagious. We all had such a good time. I don’t remember feeling self-conscious once (which is a first for me). They were so welcoming and they taught in a way that boosted confidence and made everyone feel like superstars. I walked out of the first class thinking ‘what has just happened?’. It was exhilarating. I felt a confidence that I can’t remember feeling before.
Although the classes were fun, they were crammed full of a lot of practical skills. These are skills I likely will always remember because of how they were taught. These are also skills that I now realize are crucial for every woman. If my daughters were still teenagers I would have them signed up for sure. But, although knowing these skills make it ‘safer’ if I choose to walk down a dark alley (which I wouldn’t do), it was something deeper than that, which comes from understanding how our bodies work, and can be used to defend ourselves, if necessary. I felt connected to my own body in a very different way. Perhaps I was starting to release some fears that I didn’t even know were there. Perhaps all women carry some amount of those fears in the back of their minds, without even realizing it?
Empowerment is not even a strong enough word for what this course has done for my confidence. It has given me a new sense of myself.
I am now signed up for the second part of the course because I want even more of that confidence. It’s showing itself in every area of my life.
I promise you that this course is worth it. Sign up now so you can join our tribe of empowered ladies.’
